AI, its fabulous promises and… how to use it well, how to benefit from it?
This question carries the seed of training for this new tool, which is both simple and intuitive, but more complex than it seems if you are at all demanding, if you want to earn a living by offering your services (those of AI and your own...). And if you want to make your company win.
Ambitions and shortcomings
However, according to a Court of Auditors report published in April 2023, The training offer in the field of artificial intelligence is considered "insufficient" in light of the national ambitions displayed by France, or 3,700 students and PhD students trained each year. Has the emergence of generative AI in the everyday landscape awakened the offer? It seems so.
New business collateral
Barely a year after the emergence of ChatGPT, initiatives are multiplying to help and learn to master this virtual interlocutor capable of much and even more. Initiatives that are more about popularization than high-level training, as has already been offered for at least 2 years by major engineering schools such as Polytechnique, Les Mines or Epita.
Many private schools that already provide training in digital professions have recently added an “AI” module, sometimes with the key being a citation of the specialty in the diploma, or even a dedicated certificate. Many of these training courses will be accessible from the next school year. Other establishments offer one-off and short training courses (for example 3 or 5 days), rarely leading to a diploma, often paying…
Meta and Google invest in Paris
In early February 2024, the American company Meta (Facebook, Instagram) and Simplon, French training center specializing in digital technology, have announced a partnership to offer the general public, from March 2024, an introduction to artificial intelligence (AI), free and open to all, hoping to reach 30,000 people. Remotely and live, in 8 cities in France (Marseille, Lyon, Paris, Lille, Nantes, Rennes, Montpellier and Bordeaux), at the rate of half a day of training, the beneficiaries of these "workshops" will learn how this tool works and how to master it.
In the wake of this – a sign of the times! – the global boss of Alphabet-Google, Sundar Pichai, came to Paris in person to inaugurate the 9th arrondissement a 6,000m2 training center dedicated to IA. Inauguration in the presence of Bruno Le Maire, Minister of the Economy, and Valérie Pécresse, President of the IDF region. This center, which will host around a hundred researchers and 200 engineers, will be open to training students, as well as 100,000 professionals by 2025 to help them integrate AI into their business.
